Into The Music

WPLJ New York (formerly WABC-FM) transitioned from album rock to a CHR format in 1983, nearly a year after their legendary sister station WABC (AM) abandoned music for talk. WPLJ's first JAM package was made in October 1983 and consisted of cuts from our "Hitradio" series. In January 1985 PD Larry Berger had us re-sing some of the jingles that had originally been aired and made famous by WABC. He also ordered the first of several custom packages. "Into The Music" featured those initial custom cuts, along with five more which were originally made in August 1984 for Johnny Beerling at the UK's BBC Radio 1.
